Group yoga classes for seniors

Two people taking a group chair yoga class near me. They attend the best senior fitness center in Austin, TX and do chair yoga for senior citizens.

How do you want to spend your golden years?

Retirement can be a golden time to engage in hobbies and spend more time with friends and family. However, it can be just as easy to sit on the sofa, put on your favorite program, and go days without speaking to anyone.

If left unchecked, this can rapidly lead to feelings of loneliness and despair on top of muscular and cognitive atrophy. That’s why it’s more important now than ever to stay busy in body and mind and to make an active effort to connect with community.

So why not try out a group fitness class? Well, maybe there aren’t any senior-friendly exercise centers nearby. Maybe there are but you’re not a fan of the crowd there. Whatever the reason, it hasn’t worked for you.

But what if there was an exercise class tailored to your unique needs that you could take with your closest friends, no matter how near or far apart you are? Would you be interested? Good news, because that’s exactly what I provide at Haiden’s Yoga Practice!

Your friend group’s new favorite activity!

Regardless of how many birthday’s we’ve celebrated, we are all deserving of health, happiness, and companionship. There’s no shortage of gyms, yoga studios, and wellness retreat centers catering to young people. However, the resources available for older adults are often limited and overly-generic.

This, in my opinion, deprives senior citizens of the equal opportunity to pursue mental, physical, and social well-being. I recognize that the seniors can have a wide-range of abilities and unique needs when it comes to fitness. I understand the need for social connection and community. That’s why I am so passionate about offering my small group chair yoga classes for seniors.

Whether it’s your girlfriends from high school who are now scattered all across the country, a group of friends from your local volunteer organization, or even you and your adult child, you can find a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect and grow together through my classes. I will work hand-in-hand with you to coordinate a meeting time and design a yoga class program specifically tailored to your group’s needs and preferences.

Man and woman take elderly yoga class at senior fitness center in Austin, TX. They are working with the best chair yoga instructor near me.

How does it work?

My standard yoga class is 1 hour in length, with around 45-50 minutes dedicated to physical practice and 10-15 minutes set aside for meditation. However, I am happy to provide shorter or longer classes and/or offer a different ratio of physical vs. mindfulness practice to suit your group’s preferences.

Most seniors find that chair yoga helps provide more stability to explore their strength and flexibility in a safe way. However, I am happy to provide traditional mat yoga classes if that is what better suits your group’s goals and capabilities. The beauty of working with a private yoga instructor is the ability to customize!
